Zach, math tutor and former classroom teacher
Hi, I'm Zach — your kid's tutor.

1-on-1 math tutoring, grades 5 through AP

Tutoring that changes how your kid feels about math

Most kids come to us believing math just isn't their thing. Then something shifts. Live 1-on-1 sessions with a former classroom teacher, a curriculum built around your kid, and a practice tool built by two teachers add up to a level of confidence and relief most students have never experienced in math. And as that confidence becomes real independence, your price comes down with it.

The free session is 30 minutes, no commitment. Prefer to talk first? Call the same number: (949) 514-8102.

Failing to 100%

One student went from failing AP Pre-Calc to a perfect score on her final exam.

Two letter grades

The typical jump for students who came in behind and stuck with the program.

3 grade levels up

A 12 year old who wanted a challenge is now working through 10th grade math.

How it works

Three phases, one goal: your kid solving it on their own

1

Start with a free session

Your kid brings a real math problem from school and works through it live with Zach. You watch, ask questions, and get an honest read on where they are, whether or not we work together.

2

Live tutoring, personalized curriculum

Weekly sessions plus practice built around your kid's actual gaps and goals, not a generic worksheet packet. Between sessions, they practice with the tool, and every session responds to what the practice reveals.

3

Independence, earned

The biggest skill we teach is how to ask precise questions when you're stuck. As your kid learns to diagnose their own confusion and work through it, they earn real independence, and the relationship stays. Sessions adjust to what your kid needs, never the other way around.

The practice tool

AI built by two teachers, with real guardrails

There's a lot of gray area around AI right now, and most of the worry is fair. This tool was custom built by two classroom teachers for one purpose: math learning. It's a safe place for your kid to learn how to use AI wisely.

  • It never hands over answers. It asks the next question a good teacher would ask.
  • It's locked to math learning. No open internet, no chatbot rabbit holes.
  • It teaches kids to ask precise questions, a skill that pays off far beyond math.
  • You get real evidence of how your kid thinks, not just a percentage on a report.

What it looks like in practice

I don't get problem 4
Show me where you got stuck. What was your first step?
I divided both sides by 2 but the answer is wrong
Good instinct. Before dividing, look at the left side again. Is everything there being multiplied by 2?

The tool guides, the student does the thinking. Every exchange like this becomes evidence of how your kid reasons.

Pricing

The price follows your kid's confidence

Families start at Coaching, and as your student's confidence turns into real independence, you move down a phase and the price comes down with you. Some families move down within a semester, some keep the weekly sessions because they love them, and both are the right call. You pay for the support your kid actually needs, never more.

Questions parents ask

The honest answers

Is it safe for my kid to use AI?
This is the most common question, and the concern is reasonable. The tool was built by two teachers specifically so kids could learn with AI safely. It's restricted to math learning, it never writes answers for the student, and you can see how your kid is using it. We think learning to use AI wisely, with guardrails, is one of the most valuable skills a student can build right now.
What ages and levels do you work with?
Upper elementary through AP level math, including students who are behind and want to catch up, and students who are ahead and want to be pushed. We also run enrichment and competition prep for gifted students.
My kid is already doing well. Is this for them?
Yes. Some of our best results come from students who wanted more than their grade level offered. One 12 year old came in strong and is now working through quadratics, which is 10th grade material. If your kid is bored in math class, that's exactly the problem we like solving.
How long until my kid is independent?
It varies by student, and we never rush it. Independence is something your kid earns when the evidence shows they're ready, not a schedule we push them through. Many students build toward it over a semester or two. Plenty of families keep the live sessions going long after because the relationship keeps paying off, and that's a great outcome too. Either way, you'll see the evidence and make the call together with us.
Are sessions in person or online?
Sessions happen over video call, which is how we work with students locally and as far away as New Zealand and Singapore. Your kid works on paper, shares their work, and gets the same live back and forth they'd get across a table.
We homeschool. Is this the right fit?
We built a separate product just for homeschool families, designed to support the parent as the teacher and keep math from straining the relationship. Learn about Sage here, or mention homeschooling when you text and we'll point you to the right thing.
